The French Centre for Educational Systems Studies (Cnesco) is dedicated to improving knowledge of French and foreign school systems in order to drive change in education.

This mission is carried out through:
- the dissemination of educational research;
- the production of operational recommendations;
- support for professional development activities for education staff.
A distinctive positioning
Cnesco positions itself as a third-party space serving education, conceived as a forum for dialogue between the research world, the educational community and public decision-makers. It promotes the flow of knowledge, its assimilation, and its translation into levers for action in education policy.
An institutional foundation
Cnesco was established in 2013 under a French Education Reform Act (known as the Peillon Law). The current Cnesco results from a partnership between the Ministry of National Education and the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam). Since 1 September 2019, it has been housed within Cnam’s Foap research laboratory (Formation et apprentissages professionnels).
